IPHONE FILMMAKING GEAR 2021

Today we will be looking at some of the gear that has become available during the past few months. iPhone filmmaking has made leaps and bounds to catch up to the head start that DSLR filmmaking gear had built up during the past decade. 

The days of having to DIY compromises are a thing of the past and now the iPhone filmmaker can find almost any type of gear that matches up to that which is used by the DSLR filmmaker. We no longer have to think in terms of shooting short films under ten minutes. Today we are able to dream Feature Film dreams. 

The first thing that we are going to look at is an overall filmmaking kit for your iPhone. Later we will look at the individual components mentioned here.

Now the first item we will look at in-depth that was mentioned is a Phone Gimbal or Stabilizer. This walkthrough video will explain it all to you. The Gimbal that we are going to be looking at is the DJI Osmo mobile 4.

Next we are going to be looking at the ways that a Gimbal can be used. 

This next part is about audio. Since the rules for recording audio are basically the same whether you are using an iPhone or a DSLR the following video should help you get through your project. The reason for this is that if you are going to be shooting a professional quality movie with sound to match you will use an external device to record it and synch it later with the native audio of the iPhone. 

Finally today I want to give all of you a dose of inspiration. One of the most respected filmmakers of our time shot a movie using the iPhone 7 plus. A feature-length thriller titled Unsane. The phones that we have in our pockets right now offer far superior video quality.
