Part of being a digital film maker is having fun. If it was not fun then we would have picked something else to do. There is something to be said for just going out and shooting something. That is why the iPhone has become a popular means of making short films. It is in your pocket and it shoots great footage.

We have looked at some of the basic film making apps that are available for the phone. I thought that today we would look at some of the cool effect apps that are out there. The great thing about the iphone as a filmmaking tool is that you can do so many things inside the phone without the need to export footage to edit it.

Here is the first of the effects apps.

Understand you will still need an app like filmic pro or almost Dslr to get that film like look. It will take a combination of techniques to achieve the quality film that you wish to make.

Also you will want something to steady your shots. I do not recommend using your hand. The results will be shaky no matter how steady you believe you are holding the device. There are many simple tools out there to hold your smartphone steady including some very inexpensive mounts and table top tripods.

Keep in mind the best way to become a better iphone film maker is to make films. Just like most things in life practices does make perfect. It is going to take some time before you feel as if your work has reached the level of a pro, but you can have fun while you are learning. Try out some of the effects apps.
